From Overwhelmed to Organised: Weekly Planning for Women in Business

Running a business is no small feat especially when you’re also running a household, managing school runs, and trying to remember the last time you drank a hot cup of coffee. If you’ve ever felt like you’re spinning plates and dropping them left, right, and centre you’re not alone.

As women in business, especially mums, we often find ourselves pulled in a thousand directions. And while we can multitask like champions, the truth is, we thrive when we feel organised, supported, and in control of our time.

If you’re nodding along, this blog is for you.

Why Planning Your Week Matters (Now More Than Ever)

Planning isn’t just about fitting everything in. It’s about protecting your time and energy so you can do more of what matters and less of what drains you. Here’s what I’ve learned: when you start your week with a clear plan, your days feel calmer, your to-do list feels doable, and your goals start turning into reality.

5 Common Planning Mistakes Women in Business Make

Let’s start by clearing a few things out of the way. You might be sabotaging your week if you:

1. Say yes to everything – Every opportunity isn’t your opportunity.

2. Don’t time-block – Without structure, your day gets hijacked.

3. Forget to schedule self-care – Burnout isn’t a badge of honour.

4. Try to multitask everything – Context-switching steals your focus.

5. Overplan without breathing room – Flexibility = sustainability.

How to Structure Your Week for Success (Without the Stress)

Here’s a simple approach I use (and recommend to my clients):

🗓️ Start With Theme Days

Group similar tasks together to stay in flow. For example:

Monday: Admin + planning

Tuesday: Content creation

Wednesday: Client calls and networking

Thursday: Marketing & visibility

Friday: CEO time + catch up

 Time Block Your Day

Break your day into focused work blocks with buffers between tasks. Prioritise your top 3 daily tasks, then add smaller to-dos around them.

💖 Schedule Non-Negotiables

This includes:

• School pickups

• Lunch breaks

• Self-care ie exercise, meal prep, destress activities (yes, actually put it in your calendar!)

🧘 Leave Space

Things will shift so build in buffer time. You’re running a business, not a military operation!

🧰 Lastly !

  • Do not reschedule your self care for anything (Obv real emergencies are ok)

  • If you have scheduled admin time, make sure not to fill it with a meeting

  • Do not be scared to say no, not right now or can I get back to you at ...........

You are in charge of your business and your time !
