Stepping Out of My Comfort Zone: Growing Connections and Championing Boss Mums

Today was an incredible afternoon. For the past six years, I’ve been growing my business in Strathaven while navigating the journey of motherhood. I eat, sleep, and breathe this town, so launching Lanarkshire Boss Mums Network was a step outside my comfort zone—a chance to expand my horizons and connect with like-minded women beyond my usual circles.
Stepping out of my routine, I took the bus into Glasgow—a big deal for anyone who knows me, as I usually avoid buses at all costs! But credit where it’s due: Climate Action Strathaven runs an excellent service, and the 3C to Glasgow was a smooth journey.
My destination was Thriving Survivors at 250 St Vincent Street. This remarkable organisation provides trauma support to men, women, and children worldwide, offering inclusive and restorative services to aid healing. Their newest initiative, Thrive 250, is an event and meeting space available for hire, with all proceeds directly supporting the charity—making it an ideal choice for anyone seeking a venue while giving back to a meaningful cause.
While there, I had the pleasure of meeting Laura Maginess, founder of Glasglow Girls Club, in their fantastic new co-working space. The venue itself is stunning, complete with a beautiful flower event wall by Make Believe Events - Wedding & Event Decor
Beyond just exploring the space, I had a clear mission: to spread the word about Lanarkshire Boss Mums Network - Group and its vision to support and promote mums in business. I made valuable connections, secured some exciting guest speakers for our network, and discovered upcoming events to enhance my learning and networking opportunities.
A truly inspiring day, and just the beginning of what’s to come!
