The network was founded in September 2024 by Lisa Roy, after noticing that there was simply nowhere designed for mums in business to connect, grow, and be supported in a way that actually fit around real life.

What began as small, local in-person meetups quickly grew into a fantastic community of women. Women joined, connected, and kept coming back not just for the events, but for each other. The WhatsApp community became the daily heartbeat of the network, and the direction became clear.
In May 2026, the network became a fully paid membership community, with all events now exclusively for members.
Today, Lanarkshire Boss Mums Network provides ongoing support for mums in business through monthly masterclasses, netwalks, co-working days, speed networking, and both online and in-person opportunities to connect, learn, and grow.
We exist to help mums build businesses that feel sustainable, supported, and successful alongside family life.

But....... Here's why Boss Mums is different.
We don't have sit-down-at-the-table networking events. Most of us mums in business only really have school hours to work with, and squashing into a venue with 50 other folk, pretending we're all fascinated by each other's elevator pitch, was never going to fit around school runs and sick days. So I'm not forcing something that doesn't fit real life. We're sticking to what actually works.
And here's the thing - the low pressure events that's replaced that has worked better. Online speed Networking in the evening when the kids are in bed is genuinely fun and you actually get to know people, not just their business card version. Netwalks mean real conversations happen while you're walking, not stiffly across a table. Momentum Monday gets you started right for the week without you having to leave the house.
And it's not just business chat either. Our WhatsApp group can go from marketing questions to helping a mum through weaning her baby. Where else, as a mum in business, are you having that conversation? Nowhere else gets both sides of you in the same room the business owner and the mum because honestly, you can't switch one off to focus on the other and Boss Mums doesn't ask you to.

Lanarkshire Boss Mums Network was founded by Lisa Roy
Lisa left a career as a nurse lecturer in 2019 to build her own Pilates business and quickly learned first-hand what it means to be a mum navigating the world of business. Now armed with a degree in leadership and business management and a passion for supporting women in business, she built the community she wished had existed. Lisa leads the network actively, hosting events, masterclasses, and mentoring sessions for members.
